QMLP was retained by the City of Ottawa to remove a total of 17 underground storage tanks (USTs) at various municipal facilities throughout the City of Ottawa.
The scope of work included the following:
- Preparation of a site-specific health and safety plan (HASP) for all site activities;
- Removal and disposal/recycling of asphalt and concrete surfaces and segregation of clean overburden material;
- Removal and disposal of liquid waste and sludge from USTs;
- Vapours were purged from the USTs prior to loading and transport off-site to a local metal recycling scrap yard;
- Assisting the on-site consultant with the collection of confirmatory soil samples from the excavation;
- Excavation, loading, and disposal of petroleum hydrocarbon impacted soil;
- Supply, delivery and compaction of imported backfill material and restoration of the sites;
- Installation of a new furnace soil above-ground storage tank (AST) and associated piping at a recreational arena complex.
