Location: Fort Saskatchewan, AB

QMLP was awarded the contract to decommission and abandon 21 parcels of land in preparation for an Oil Sands Upgrader Expansion project. The contract was on a time and materials basis that turned out to be cost effective as several unknowns arose at the site upon demolition and excavation.

The scope of work included the following:

• Decommission/ abandon 20+ water wells to Alberta Environment regulations;
• Demolish and dispose of Farm Structures including barns, houses, and outbuildings;
• Remove and properly dispose of Hazardous Materials;
• Recycling of 1,000+ tonnes of tires, batteries, scrap steel, and historic farm equipment that went to the local museum;
• Site restoration to near natural condition.
